Audi is testing the light version of А5

The prototype downloaded over 100 kg. the weight of the familiar Audi A5. The main difference between the familiar version of the A5 and lightweight prototype, which the company tested the results in lighter materials. Thanks to the aluminum alloys and carbon fibers, which have replaced conventional steel, the weight of the car has decreased by 110 kg. The new lower weight of the test model, equipped with 2.0-liter FSI engine, offers almost similar dynamics to that of a gifted V6 models C 265 hp under the hood. Weight / power at the prototype A5 2.0 FSI has 159 hp per tonne, where a powerful A5 3.2 FSI, the figures are 170 hp per ton. The company explained that the light weight will allow the integration of smaller engines which in turn will require less fuel and emit less harmful emissions. Lose weight, will inevitably affect positive and dynamic characteristics of the vehicle, its management and last but not least – the stopping distance.
